![]() ![]() They also have Japanese Alfred, but with an eyepatch Dorothy Wainwright (otherwise known as android best girl), the batmobile (called the Griffin in this series), Commissioner Gordon Colonel Dastun, an old friend of Roger's who acts as his contact in the Military Police, Roger himself, a batman expy who acts as a Negotiator in the eponymous Paradigm city, the amnesiac residents of PAradigm itself, a new mecha every week, some of the most compelling villains in fiction, and some cheeky, Anno levels of endgame mind fuckery. The opening, as you may notice, is a shameless rip off of the opening theme from Flash Gordon, savior of the universe. ![]() He's gloriously voiced by Steve Blum (more famously known an Guilimon from Digimon.and also Spike Spiegal and Mugen from the aforementioned other shows). No, it's not Zero from Code Geass, it's not Hei from Darker than Black, it's definitively Roger Smith, I'll accept no disagreement there. ![]() More importantly, it's MC, Roger Smith, is anime batman. While this isn't grounds to believe it is automatically a 10/10, I'm sure this holds some weight with the right people. You know, the guys who made Gundam (you may have heard of it?). Firstly, just like the recently airing Gangsta, the infamous Samurai Champloo, and of course, the legendary Cowboy Bebop, The Big O is a show that has a cast comprised entirely of adults. Let me say a few words about the show for those who may be interested. Not in any dub threads, not in any mystery threads, not in any artistic recs, detective recs, Noir recs, adult cast recs, mecha recs, nothing. It repeatedly fails to show up in anyone's recommendation lists. It has Akarin levels of prescence really. And yet, there's one legendary dub that was wildly popular while it was airing, a show called The Big O, that just doesn't get any recognition around here at all. Albeit others have probably watched them more recently while I watched them many years ago. And to my knowledge (although there are a great number of users who are sub only and never experienced toonami growing up) I'm hardly alone in having watched the legendary dubs of shows like Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. That's a big reason why I continue to watch anime to this day. I might be alone in this regard, but personally, I grew up watching Toonami on television.
